Two critical security vulnerabilities were discovered in PHP, a widely used programming language, prompting security measures worldwide on 21 October 2026. PHP is a technology used by many web services, including the Moodle platform on which Maisteri LMS is based.
To ensure the security of our customers' learning environments, we temporarily took Moodle environments offline on Wednesday, 21 October, as a precautionary measure. This was done to minimise potential security risks until the necessary security updates could be installed. We kept our customers informed about the situation and the required actions as it developed.
Maisteri LMS services have been restored
Security updates were completed by approximately 11:00 PM on the same day across all servers managed by Mediamaisteri. The learning environments were brought back online as soon as the necessary updates had been installed and their safe operation had been verified.
Maisteri LMS services are now operating normally. We also updated customer-managed installations where remote updates were possible. Any remaining installations requiring updates will be assessed separately to determine the necessary next steps.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the service interruption and thank our customers for their patience and understanding.
