Clear Rules for AI Use: Traffic Lights for Learning

Reduce uncertainty and save teachers’ time! AI Traffic Lights bring clear, easy-to-understand indicators to Moodle activities, showing the rules for using AI.

Traffic light indicators tell students exactly what is allowed: 

Allowed  - AI can be used freely 
Declare - AI can be used, but it must be mentioned 
Forbidden – AI use is not allowed 
Required – AI use is part of the assignment 

By clicking the icon, students can read more information in their Moodle language setting. Different icon shapes support accessibility and make them easy to tell apart. 

Easy to Implement and Customize

• Not enabled by default – teachers decide per course which light is shown for each activity
• Texts are based on Arene (The Rectors’ Conference of Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences) recommendations but can be freely edited
• Icons can be customized to match your organization’s visual identity
